Police Brutality in Nigeria CitizenCommons Holds Townhall in Abuja.

In an effort to awareness and encourage public discourse on the increasing of Police Brutality in Nigeria, Citizen Commons (eCove) in partnership with CivicHive hosted a Townhall in Abuja.

The event featured screening of a documentary on #PoliceBrutality, where victims of Police Brutality shared their experiences. The screening is then followed by panel conversation exploring ways we can enagge as citizens to curb this growing menace in our society.

Featured in the Conversation are:

  1. Bar Victor Giwa – Lawyer Human Rights Activists
  2. Ms Seun Durojaiye – Investigative Journalist
  3. Bar David Ashaolu – Lawyer
  4. Mr Mohammed Ibrahim Jega – Enterprenuer

The #EndSARS Campaign continue to highlight the impact of increasing harassments and abuse of human rights by the Nigerian Police. This event seeks to highlight the impact of this problem and explored possible policy solutions. With the closing civic space in Nigeria, there is no better time to have this conversation and engagement the law enforcement community on the need to adhere to the provisions of human rights and respect for the Constitution.
